Git ERROR: You are not allowed to push code to this project.

I have this new project which I’ve set up locally.

However, when I was pushing the initial code to the project, I got this error:

$ git push --set-upstream origin main --verbose
Pushing to gitlab.com:learning-repositories-x/godot/dodge-the-creeps.git
remote:

remote: 
remote: ERROR: You are not allowed to push code to this project.

remote: 
remote: ========================================================================
remote: 
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

I checked git log and confirmed that the commit is made by my Personal Gitlab account.

I also checked my ~/.ssh/config , which shows:

Host gitlab.com
  Hostname gitlab.com
  PreferredAuthentications publickey
  IdentityFile ~/.ssh/path-to-key
Host <some-work-username>.gitlab.com
  Hostname gitlab.com
  PreferredAuthentications publickey
  IdentityFile ~/.ssh/path-to-key-2

Debugging via ssh -v git@gitlab.com, I saw that it connected to Gitlab via my work account, AND that it tried several other SSH keys I have (le gasp!!!).

This StackOverflow answer pointed me to the right direction:

Basically, I needed to add IdentitiesOnly yes to get it to only use the defined IdentityFile.

Finally got started with the 2D game tutorial!

Tried Pomodoro by Forest app, and realized I am so prone to getting side-tracked. Case in point: this Git issue.

First thoughts on ~Godot~ Gdscript actually

  • Godot is less than 200 MB :O
  • How to make Cherry theme? Hehe will check this next time. Let’s avoid the rabbit hole.
  • The prompt to select directory naming convention led me to the Gdscript docs immediately! Since the docs mention that it’s close to Python, I chose snake-case.
  • The syntax is actually very readable. I read til about a third of the way, but thought that I didn’t even read about the Typescript (my main) syntax this much before I started development, (and it’s 3am now) so I’m leaving this for now.

Hopefully, I can actually get started on Godot tomorrow!

Fix for Wifi Not Working in Linux – Realtek 8852AE

TLDR: Uninstall lwfinger’s rtw89 driver.

My device is a Thinkpad X13 Gen 2 that comes with Realtek 8852. The only way I got my wifi to work was through lwfinger’s rtw89 driver (THANK YOU).

My wifi stopped working after updating my packages today, which included the Linux kernel update to Linux kernel 5.16. Turns out the rtw89 driver is now builtin to the kernel! I actually learned about this through a comment in the AUR rtw89-dkms-git package.

So what I did is uninstall the package and restart, then my wifi reconnected to the network. JUST THAT.

LVM KEEPS PROLONGING MY STARTUP AND SHUTDOWN TIMES

I noticed before that my startup times are taking way too long, longer than my Windows. Masking LVM improved it drastically, but over time, my shutdown times got longer and longer. I saw some posts attributing this to LVM but I thought that since I masked it already, I’m good. Turns out you have to actually disable the LVMETAD service through it’s config. 12 second shutdown time now.
